How does OpenShift by RedHat works?

OpenShift is built based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, bringing the same stability and performance provided by RHEL to all the applications running in OpenShift.

Key concepts:

• The Master is the host that contains and provides the API, orchestration and scheduling. It manages nodes and schedules pods to run on nodes;
• A Node is a Linux container that provides all the required services to run pods assigned by the master;
• Pods run one or more containers as a single unit, each pod has its own IP and containers, and they can share their local storage;
• Containers are the basic unit applications of OpenShift Container Platform, they are lightweight to run a framework, databases and others applications.
